The Restaurant Rescue Project

The Restaurant Rescue Project (#RestaurantRescueProject) is an independent, industry-driven initiative to preserve the gastronomic culture of Cape Town by saving the restaurant sector, which has been crippled by the pandemic and the measures taken to curb its spread. About Sijnn Wines

A beautiful pioneering wine estate in the middle of nowhere at the end of a long, dusty, bumpy road at the Southern tip of Africa. When David and Rita Trafford visited the Malgas region for the first time in 2000, they were blown away with the incredible soils specifically in the Lemoentuin area and immediately set about finding a suitable property to purchase. Today, Sijnn Wines are grown in Malgas along the Breede River - the only first growth appellation in the region.

Sijnn Wines adopts Café Charles

The last months have been particularly challenging for the hospitality industry. At Café Charles we had to adapt our business model and change the way we work. We went from a full restaurant operation employing 22 passionate team members to a lockdown deli and takeaway allowing for only 4 employees to continue their work. With regulations being relaxed we are now rebuilding Café Charles. Together, stronger and better.

We are humbled and moved that Sijnn Wines has decided to "adopt" Café Charles and participate in the Restaurant Rescue Project. This project has been set up by Alex Dale to help restaurants weather this storm.

Sijnn Wines have generously donated 200 cases of their extraordinary wine that will be gifted when purchasing a voucher for Café Charles. Thank you Charla Bosman and David Trafford for this support.

So here is the offer… purchase a Café Charles meal voucher for the value of R1500 and receive a complimentary case of wine from Sijnn Wines to the value of R2160. The case contains 6 bottles of the following wines:

2x Sijnn White 2016

Chenin blanc, Viognier and Roussanne. A barrel fermented blend, with a component of skin contact making the blend extra rich, textured and flavourful.

1x Sijnn Red 2011, 1x Sijnn Red 2012, 1 Sijnn Red 2013, 1x Sijnn Red 2014

The Red is a Syrah based blend with Touriga Nacional, Trincadeira, Mourvedre and a splash of Cabernet Sauvignon. A Mediterranean blend from some incredible harsh and difficult soils, making the wine very complex and intense, yet fine elegant tannins and beautiful to drink.

Please support Café Charles, Sijnn Wines and the incredible Restaurant Rescue Project by buying a voucher here.

Stay safe and take care!
